'Shining' India! Bye, Bye, Commonwealth Games...
CWG sullied (AGAIN) with images of preteens labour
In order to complete these projects, workers have been paid way below
the minimum wage while being forced to live and work in substandard
conditions, under tarpaulin on the construction site. Human rights have
labeled the living conditions as “sub human”.
While the majority
of children are in school or playing, India’s children are working hard
for as little as $3 a day on the construction site for the Commonwealth
Promises of extra bonuses such as money, bread and
milk and an extra meal are made to parents who bring in their children
to work on the site and for this, they work twelve-hour shifts....
And don't forget: "It is the biggest democracy in the world!"
Incredible India :)
Really horrible news, and I thought Indians are better in human rights, workers/labour rights etc (<u>no pun intended!</u>)
45 death toll so far for these stadia!! Oh God! Unbelievable!
No words on this report!

Australia's Olympic Committee president has said the Commonwealth Games should not have been awarded to Delhi. John Coates said the Commonwealth Games Federation lacked the resources to monitor progress and to ensure that construction deadlines were met. England have become the first overseas team to reach Delhi, but other nations have delayed their arrivals. A New Zealand cyclist is the ninth athlete to pull out because of health and safety fears.Greg Henderson, who has won four medals at previous Games, cancelled on Friday, citing concerns over the state of facilities - a day after four British cyclists withdrew from the 3-14 October competition. On Thursday, the BBC obtained pictures showing flooding, leaking toilets, dirty bathrooms, incomplete apartments and paw prints on beds in the athletes' village."The problem is the Commonwealth Games Federation is under-resourced. It doesn't have the ability to monitor the progress of cities in the way the [International] Olympic Committee does."http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11403204
Difference between Pakistani corruption and Indian corruption is little,
Pakistani money goes to Swiss banks and Indian money remain inside india and reach up to the local people some how.

i enjoyed the excuses given by various indian ministers
<div>question is, why were they not able to build few buildings in time? </div>
<div>perhaps same civil bureaucracy as pakistan?</div>
