Saudi Arabia contests 160 TLDs, including .catholic, .islam and .baby

Saudi Arabia has issued more than 160 complaints to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) over domain names that it says demonstrate religious and cultural insensitivities.
The country's Communication and Information Technology Commission issued the complaints, which detail why domain names such as .wine, .wtf, .tattoo, .casino and .sexy would be considered offensive to many if granted. One of the main purposes of the series of complaints, other than the obvious defence of religious beliefs shared by Saudi Arabia and its geographical neighbours, is to demonstrate the responsibility of a US-based private corporation in charge of a global entity to reflect global ideals and sensitivities -- not just western ones.
