Never understood what these Nawaz Sharif people can brag about. The following are some excerpt from 1999 ousting of Nawa Sharif. Bottom line: People took a sigh of relief. What has changed since then?
"Experts say General Musharraf may have seized the moment of his dismissal to respond as much to civilian frustration with an ineffective Government as to festering army resentment at Mr. Sharif and with an economy in shambles and continuing violence among ethnic minorities and Shia and Sunni Muslims"
"After a calm coup, Pakistanis celebrate. The public expresses relief at Tuesday's ouster of Prime Minister"
"As he drove by in his cab, Nisar Ali raised a 'V' for victory sign, waving to a group of soldiers outside Islamabad's international airport. Stopping at a gas station for a fill-up, Mr. Ali gestured to the attendant and grinned. "I'm so happy today. Nawaz Sharif is gone.""
