Hope you are in good health and remain in good health. But God forbid if something happens you will turn to medical science not Mr. Chopra's neem hakimi. Few months back very close friends sister in law, bhabi, passed away. During condolences we found out she was battling cancer through some organic means. She was influenced by likes of Chopra and despite lot of insistence of husband and two kids she was adamant she won't go through conventional treatment of chemo and surgery. She died in lot of pain after 24 months or so.

I hope you and Lota Jee are practical unlike her. You can get influenced by all the buzz words that Chopra jee throws around but if things go south you will turn to medical science not Chopra's BS.

  • Nice to see you Shirazi ji: Your exchange of talks with Gulraiz Bhai gave me an opportunity to cement my theory which theory is shared by many likes of scientific minded people that Cancer cannot be cured whether treated upon by Homeo, Alopathy or herbal treatment. The same goes with any other alternative treatment. There is a fake hope that DNA technology might make a breakthrough but DNA technology by itself is at a baby stage. In that there are many theories in DNA science for the cause of cancer which theories are floating and on which the work is in progress. Millions of RNAs (carbon copies of DNA) are being produced per hour and millions of new RNAs are die-ing. This is a normal procedure of a biological body. Sometime, there occurs a malfunction which produces abnormal cells which keep on accumulating within one portion or several parts of the biological body. The abnormal condition (cancer is wrongly called a "disease" as per Medical Science) of abnormal growth of malfunctioned cells are called Cancer. There are thousands of laboratories working on the cause and effect of this abnormality yet a conclusive result has not been reached. The only partial success has been reported in cases of surgery that too if the cancer is diagnosed at early stage and surgery is performed.

Said this, those so called Cancer Hospitals are just mercy treatment. In that, highly costlier medicines (chemotherapy) are in the market which slow down the abnormal growth and prolongs the last day of patient. But very few people leave the hospital with a normal life. Nonetheless, the surgery is called successful if the patient survives longer than five years and they are declared cancer free. In most of the cases the abnormal growth recurs in the similar or other area of the body simply because the root cause of malfunction of RNAs still remains in the body.

  • Imtiaz Ji,

The greedy three trillion Dollar yearly drugging and doctoring of America has stopped producing Alexander Fleming and Dr Jonas Salk. A CURE of a disease will not be seen until this disease of greed in the healthcare is tamed.

Here is a quote from an already rich cancer researcher doctor:

"The goal is to turn cancer from a killer disease to a chronic disease"

    More from other sources:

"The treatment of cancer is black magic"

"A single most successful fight against cancer was the anti tobacco law" - A decision influenced by statisticians and not doctors.

  • “What happens in medicine is, we come up with a story to explain our observation. We get enamored with our story and then we use that story to propel the treatments and research. It is really when you cannot justify your treatment and we start to throw it out. But it last a long time.” - Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies (The Blind Men and the Elephant)

  • @Azizi bhai

The growth rate of developed economies can't be same as developing economies. Similarly the rate of inventions can't be same as it was 50 years ago. It's difficult to find alternative of oil for energy industry or root of cancer for medical industry despite all the resources they throw on research. The new inventions are rewarded because they carry huge commercial turnover. We just need to be little patient. NIH sponsor organized research but I understand when people are dying all those resources and efforts look not enough. But I wouldn't say the biggest hurdle is greed of medical industry. Because greed is a catalyst not a hurdle for invention.

  • Azizi sahib is right that pharmaceutical industry has taken a shape of highest earning commercial cartel. They are taking full advantage of human's fear of death. Perhaps cancer related drugs are the costliest in the market, whereas the remedy these medicines bring about is temporary relief. There is no such drug that cures the cancer permanently. Even surgery is not a sure shot. The patient operated upon is advised to visit regularly for CT Scan and MRI to ensure if there is new growth somewhere in the anatomy of the body.

Having said this, there is still hope for a breakthrough. Quite a large number of people are on record that caught cancer but diagnosed at an earlier time, operated upon and lived and living a normal life. One big example is Nancy Reagan. She was operated upon for breast cancer long time ago. She is still passing a normal life while her husband Ronald Reagan is no more.

About pharmaceutical cartel, yes, they are earning a lot but at the same time we cannot stop them for doing so. They, at least, keep the dead man walking today. Tomorrow a sudden discovery might give them a normal life back.

  • Shirazi Bhai,

"Greed is good", a dialog from a Hollywood Wall-Street movie played by Michael Douglas. I doubt this greed will ever get you a cure for cancer. Prolong sickness with TREATMENT is the call of the day.

Other than the childhood Leukemia (and to some extent, adult one too) no cancer has a cure yet. Only success is approximate cause and prevention. Anti smoking campaign and discontinuation of estrogen supplement for women are a few good stories.

All of my loved ones with cancer died within two years of diagnosis. Three were very close to me in their 50s, 60s and 70s. No one went to "doctor Chopra", your Neem Hakim. You may have some good cancer stories to share. But I have a conspiracy theory about those.

Over-diagnosis, over-prescription and placebos are the prime factor in modern healthcare. Autopsies of accident victims show that majorities of women in 40's had cancer cells in their breast and men of 50s had cancer cell in their prostates. These cells do not harm a person until a process of angiogenesis kicks in. Who know the placebo (cured) cancer patient actually had a benign/ inactive cancer and was treated for no reason.

"They" say early detection is the key to a successful cancer treatment. But how an early detection can be done is also a myth. In the US, healthy people go to a doctor once a year for physical checkup. Most deadly cancers show their symptoms in six month. By then it is already stage three. Only way you can detect cancer early is to go under a CT scan every three months. But CT scan might itself expose you to cancer.

Please watch this. The last part is the placebo promise what Imtiaz Sahib has mentioned, which I agree with him.
