Taboo topics in Pakistan-?
In Pakistan in my opinion, the following topics are taboo...
a) Person of Rasool Allah. One cannot discus human characteristics of Rasool Allah s.a.w
b) Inter Services Intelligence and its anti awam policies.
c) Homo-sexuality of political and religious figures.
the above topics always create a mis understanding, for example, if a person says that Rasool Allah s.a.w died as a poor person per the hadees of Hz Ayesha radillah, the listeners in Pakistan mis understand it and will label you as a Gustakh e Rasool cause he is Rehmat lil Alameen, people confuse the spiritual with the material...so this topic is very easily confused.
Second topic about ISI, after all they are human beings and are also inflitrate able, non muslim agents inside ISI's operational framework should be highlighted, but as soon as someone in the media talks about ISI, instantly s/he is labeled as anti-pak and an agent etc....
If you highlight that our current forigen minister Shah Mehmood and Molana ghafoor haidri are known for homosexuality......and are not fit for political office due to this moral issue, one gets quiet and will not expose their ill manners....Imran Khan's sister Rubina khan and ex ambassador to USA, M.Lodhi is well known for these acts.....but no one even talks about it....
What else topics are there which cannot be discussed openly ?

Our society is yet to develop into one where open and frank discussion can take place upon facts and the truth.... however ugly that truth may be. As a society we are still very closed-minded. Plus there is much fitna and kichrhi that it becomes difficult for the common person to discern what is truth and what is not....
"ugly" is just a mental "label" for "avoiding" study!
I suspect the word "ugly" comes from urdu into english....in urdu it means "next" and in english it means "bad looking" to me its the same thing! ugly=next=badsoorat=chalo choro!
If homosexuals are real, then how can Islam disapprove of homosexuality?
Ok, from what I heard and read, some scientists "proved" that homosexuality is natural. Now while many, if not most, scientists refuted homosexuality and proved that it is unnatural, but I will go ahead and accept that homosexuality is natural for the sake of argument. I will take the worst case scenario in this article and still refute it by Allah Almighty's Will.
It is important to know that it is also natural for us to incline toward lusting after the opposite sex. So does this now justify lust, fornication and adultery? The answer is obviously NOT.
Homosexuals are desperate to justify their actions through Religion. They always strive on proving that homosexuality is ok with GOD Almighty. Unfortunately for them, however, Islam does not condone homosexuality. Let us look at what Allah Almighty Said in the following Noble Verses:
"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, "And leave those whom God has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" (The Noble Quran, 26:165-166)"
"And (remember) Lut: behold, he said to his people: "Ye do commit lewdness, such as no people in Creation (ever) committed before you. "Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practise wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this: they said: "Bring us the Wrath of God if thou tellest the truth." (The Noble Quran, 29:28-29)"
"If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or God ordain for them some (other) way. (The Noble Quran, 4:15)" If the lesbian woman or women repent, then she or they would be set free. See proof.
"If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone; for God is Oft-returning, Most Merciful. (The Noble Quran, 4:16)" The punishment is 100 stripes. See proof.
"We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? (The Noble Quran, 7:80)"
"For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: Ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds. (The Noble Quran, 7:81)"
"(We also sent) Lut (as an apostle): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)? (The Noble Quran, 27:54)"
"Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant! (The Noble Quran, 27:55)"
"A sura which We have sent down and which We have ordained in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition. The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by God, if ye believe in God and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment. (The Noble Quran, 24:1-2)"
"Nor come nigh to adultery: for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil, opening the road (to other evils). (The Noble Quran, 17:32)"
"O Prophet! When believing women come to thee to take the oath of fealty to thee, that they will not associate in worship any other thing whatever with God, that they will not steal, that they will not commit adultery (or fornication), that they will not kill their children, that they will not utter slander, intentionally forging falsehood, and that they will not disobey thee in any just matter,- then do thou receive their fealty, and pray to God for the forgiveness (of their sins): for God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (The Noble Quran, 60:12)"
Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said:
'Abd al-Rahman, the son of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, reported from his father: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: "A man should not see the private parts of another man, and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman, and a man should not lie with another man under one covering, and a woman should not lie with another woman under one covering. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid), Book 003, Number 0667)"
This Hadith (Saying of the Prophet) is clearly saying:
1- A man can not see another man's private parts (butt and groin).
2- A woman also can not see another woman's private parts, including breasts except perhaps during the time of suckling a baby.
3- A man can not sleep with another stranger man in the same room.
4- A woman can not sleep with another stranger woman in the same room.
Even bringing suspicion of being a homosexual, fornicator, adulterer or adulterous against yourself is forbidden in Islam.
Ok Mullah I hope you understand homosexuality from an Islamic point of view.
Thanks Migel9 for a detail and informative lecture on Homosexuality! :-)
Mashallah brother migel9 ;)
there is no doubt that the act of this kind is qatann haram and unacceptable from a moral stand point. But the high rate of this act in our political and religious circles is in need to be brought into the lime light.....
I am afraid no one is talking about this act of disgrace being done in our political circles ....no one says anything....
I am not comfortable knowing that a good amount of our religious leadership and politicians are into this, my recent research into fall of mogul empire also points into this direction that 90 members of the mogul dynasty were into homosexuality among themselves as well as Englishmen.
Is history going to repeat itself......?
Average muslim has no clue Khan..Sleep walking through life.
Ignorance is sin in islam.:)
By the way Khan Lawrence of Arabia was known homosexual.Fact
Last comment on this subject..
This is what the medical sciences have to say (I have learnt it during an lecture in Immunology):
Homosexual activity in males can cause infertility. That's because if semen is ejaculated to the rectum during the homosexual intercourse, it can contact white blood cells (the lymphocytes) which start produce antibodies against sperms. Later those antibodies start destroying the man's own sperms. This means that the man cannot have children.
I'm posting this because many Christian people still believe that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. But no-one can seriously believe that a thing that makes one cannot have children is good and natural. Perhaps it would be good if you put this piece of medical evidence on your site, as it confirms what the Qur`an says about gays.

u ppl are talking about big issues .
as a creative in the ad agency ..i can tell you there are many issues which considered Taboo out here in Paksitan.
i use to work for social marketing Green Star ...family planing ...which is a taboo ...
how to communicate with masses in urdu in a taboo subject .
was a great challenge for me.
talking about women health is another thing and talking about condoms and contraceptive pills is another thing.
we need to talk in urdu as the ppl who can speak n understand english ...already knows about family planing .
we need to talk to the masses who have no clue what is family planing ?
now my newer assignment is VEET hair removal cream .
its another taboo in Pakistan ...
its very difficult to take out insights out of focus groups ,in house visits and door to door activities .
coz in Pakistan ,they give you a hair removal pack in a brown envelope .
no girl or woman wants to talk about unwanted hair in public and with strangers .
no girl or a woman wants to look at an ad of a hair removal when she is sitting with her father, hubby or brother.
it is what call TABOO.

I agree to Mr. shohail as we should not pass judgments about people with out having any proff. If we really want to expose them we should focus on their corruption and treacherous they have been doing with the Muslims, for which we have more then enough evidence!!!
see, what an experimental success in this post, I listed three topics, and see majority of the public, actually all of you guys totally shy'd away from the first two topics...which really explains the "taboo power" of a topic...
and all of you gravitated towards an issue which has its roots in moral value system.
Some of you even tried to silence this topic by asking for "proof"....which is so easy to gather if you hang out with these people. Just find out these politicians and actors are always supporting a social cause, go and seek a volunteer position and in a few days you will have "proof"...
so see the power of Taboo is so great that even if you highlight it, there are folks who will start "supressing" it ....
but as usual, my nature is to suggest practical steps and most of our readers are arm chair or online gladiators...
but this topic proved that yes we are a society, as our very original member "oriel" suggested, a close minded society...
remember, unless until we identify the good, bad and the ugly.
Another issue, in the past centuries the method of saying was, do not look "who" is saying instead look at "what is being said"...this statement was for the past centuries, in the current century, a lot of "bad" is being marketed with the label of "good" for you...so the method to analytic is to see "who" is saying otherwise greater disasters are waiting for us.
Always look at the character and background of a political leader....
OK, Mulla... Now that you have blamed us for shying away... lets do the talking...
Homosexuality... I think the ratio of people who are involved in homosexuality is more then your wildest imagination. (But that I am sure you already know!)
Almost every relationship are involved in homosexuality, incest etc. It’s more common in lower socio-economical class but the growing trend is now in upper class!
Most of the institutions in Pakistan are Men only or at least predominately men promotes homosexuality, like Prision,Army,Police,Schools,Colleges,Universities.
Also again due to social restrictions against free socialisation among opposite species also promote promiscuity.
Although Mullahs are traditionally blamed (like western Priests and Pujaree jee in India) for abusing kids (mainly male kids) it’s equally common among other occupations like teachers, sport coach’s.
It’s more common within families rather then on a social level. What I mean is that there is more chances that 2 cousins or 2 friends may end up in HS rather then as a random act.
Also I agree with Migel9 that people are just flowing with the flow without knowing much about this aspect of humans in light of Islam.
My concern is "exposure" of this mental issue in the political and religious leadership.....
cause any other person involved in this can be punished one way or the other, but those who are thekaydar of our national issues cannot be exposed ? why ?
For example, when education reforms were being mentioned a big hoopla was created when this was disclosed that canadian qadyanis were the ones designing our sllybus, similarly, now when the education reforms are being touted by homosexual's why should we not expose that...
cause in my mind i belive pakistani education is still really one of the best , all it needs is a bit of cosmetics...
I do not really care about the exact figures in a society, i only want to highlight our leaderships involvement in this kabih amal!
I did come to know about Maulana Diseal that he has some inclination towards back door entry in Govt and allegedly there are some tapes of him with ISI (another full time job of ISI) which is being used to shut him up on occassions..
The other peroson who was at one stage famous for this back door entry was peer sahib.. Allah Knows best what is rite n wrong
Shah mehmood quraishi
dr maleeha lodhi
Moulana Sami ul haq
ex Frn Minister SahibZada Yaqoob khan
I cannot forgive thes people for such acts, they are assumed to be leaders!
are always discussed in social circles , some of these do not care...about their reputations like Dr maleeha lodhi cause what she has on pak gov is so powerful stuff that she enjoys her ambassadorial job plus she is a hard worker too no doubt about that....
I do not have pictures or any other documental evidence but I do suggest that people who are really looking for proof should work with these individuals as volunteers for a few months and will get to know...

Excellent thread; before I start my comment I must say that Pakistanis love to read between the lines. They pay attention to body language and face expression. Spoken words are huge phenomena. That is the reason people tend to shy away from taboo topics:
1. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)
Blashphmeny law is against the basic teachings of Islam. Prophet was himself very forgiving and tolerant person. Everybody know about the story when he used to pass through a street and an old lady used to curse him and throw trash at him. One day old lady didn't showed up; Prophet inquired and he was told that she is sick. So Prophet went to her home inquired about her health. This is the level of tolerance and foregiveness by Prophet; and we have Blasphmey law in Constitution of Pakistan which infact is un-islamic.
Secondly, about pictures of Prophet Mohammad. Prophet didn't want his picture or idol to be prepared for one simple reason. He didn't not wanted future civilization to worhip him. He want them to worship God/Allah instead of him. Cartoons of Prophet Mohammad is another exam of his followers intolerance; very funny thing happened when denmark newspaper published those cartoons. Riots broke out in many parts of Muslim world and people burned down many public building belonging to Muslim nation itself (which had no part in publishing of those cartoons) and few people died too (all innocent Muslim). So this show our level of tolerance.
I will not go into religious aspect of homosexuality. I know it is forbidden in religion. I will discuss pragmatic aspect of this issue. There are two kinds homosexuals; first kind is by birth and second by choice. For homosexuals or gays by birth it is quite natural for them to be attracted towrds other males; they can't help themselve. They are born in wrong body. In this kind of natural homosexuals there are two sub-kinds first one is feminine kind and second one is masculane kind. Every same sex couple in contineous relationship (either male same sex or female same sex) you will find one dominating and one submissive. There other kind of Homosexuals are by choice and in Pakistan we will find more homosexuals by choice. The question arise why, the answer is simple. We are very conservative and religious society. Access to call girls are confined to very rich or notorious criminals only. Some white collars middle class gather some courage to find these call girls too. But majority remain hungry. Some take the short cut of masturbation and some try to find their satisfaction in other male. Without going into morale and religious aspect of this issue; sexual desire of male particularly and female imparatively is a reality. Considering the presence of very high unemployment rate in middle class urban youth and struggle of educated youth toward career bulding keep them away from woman untill they turn thirty something. So what happen between 15-30, how they survive? I am not saying that all of them choose path of homosexuality but some do that. Even those who don't do that use homosexulaity in their behaviour and language. 'Abey chikney', 'Aaj to ho jaye' or 'Aaj to teri lay loo ga' are some of many common lines used by regular Paksitanis who infact do not have any intention of doing it. But by language they give signals.
